One child's story ....

Grace is thirteen years old and in Primary Grade Six. Her father died of AIDS when Grace was six years old, leaving her mother to care for Grace and her seven brothers and sisters in a mud hut in a rural village in Uganda. Father Centurio helped the family find an aunt to care for Grace, as well as buying food, clothing and paying her school fees. Her mother has since died of AIDS and her aunt is now caring for four of Grace’s sisters, while Grace lives at Ma’s Orphans’ Centre and Nursery and attends The Great Aubrey School, both part of UMOP in Tororo, Uganda. Grace is determined academically, has made good marks in school, and is a role model for the other children. She is HIV negative and doing very well.

Grace is one of the lucky children. Uganda has an estimated 2.2 million orphans, the highest number in the world, and 25 percent of all households look after at least one child orphaned by either HIV/AIDS or war. Like most authorities in Uganda, UMOP believes that community placement, with support, is the best way to care for these children.

Only with the support of compassionate people like you can UMOP continue our mission of love and hope. Your support of US $35 per month will provide food, clothing, basic medical care and school fees for one child. Please help these vulnerable children by making a monthly pledge or donation. Any amount you can give will help. Every gift is needed; every gift is appreciated; every gift makes a difference!
